Imaginosity, Ireland’s first children’s museum is aimed at all children up to the age of 10 and their families, Imaginosity is based on the concept of interactive learning and is crammed with fun educational activities and exhibitions for children. Imaginosity will prove that learning is fun!

Located in Beacon South Quarter, Imaginosity is a 16,000 sq. ft. building which features 8,000 sq.ft. of interactive play, including a dramatic entrance space two storey climbing structure, an interactive arts studio, a theatre and performance area and 14 immersive exhibit galleries.

Inspiration for the project comes from an understanding of how children learn through play, and how they slowly come to understand the world around them by touching, tasting, climbing, testing, building and drawing.

Working closely with Imaginosity was educational consultant Mary Sinker and Jack Rouse Associates in the US who provided overall planning and design for the Imaginosity exhibits and guest experiences. Jack Rouse Associates have designed a number of children’s museums in the US.

There are five thematic platforms in the exhibition galleries of Imaginosity!

Platform 1: The Climber – spanning two floors, this Climber offers visitors the opportunity to explore a wonderful world that is both unexpected and unusual as they climb from the Sub Marine on the ocean floor to the Castle Turret to let Rapunzel’s hair down!

Platform 2: Play your Story – a town centre where children enact everyday experiences, role-play and work in teams. It includes a supermarket, post office, café, bank, construction zone, garage, library and doctor’s office.

Platform 3: Create your Story – a multipurpose performance space, an art studio and a gallery

Platform 4: Tir na nOg, Nests 1 & 2 – two specially designed spaces for children under two.

Platform 5: Nature in the City – this unique roof space is designed to encourage gross motor skills in an interactive area that features play activities for visitors and an introduction to Eco Badger, who tells the sustainable energy story of the building and invites visitors into his Sett.

Imaginosity! will also feature an iconic water feature, a dramatic entrance space and two multi-purpose programme rooms.

The project’s developers envision a place where children’s imaginations and innate curiosity provide foundations of confidence, education and joy. When the doors of Imaginosity! open this summer, Irish children will have the opportunity to explore their untapped creativity. All they have to do is get curious, imagine, and have fun!
